Tips For Video Marketing

Whether you’re just breaking into the business or an industry pro, we at Slate and Main have some quick tips to throw at you to answer how to do video marketing. 

The first tip may seem a little obvious, but it’s an important one if you’re looking for new video marketing ideas: stay up to date on trends. It’s hard, we know. Trends seem to come and go like the tide, and there’s always something new on the horizon. The speed of technological development, it’s hard for any singular marketer to keep up with it all. Still, it IS our job. Besides, the fundamentals don’t change, whether you’re buying a radio spot or paying an Instagram influencer to promote your latest product. You’re still appealing to humans, no matter how weird Gen Z may seem to be (and boy, they ARE they weird), which means human emotion and relatable experiences are key. Trends are just mediums. Forms of expression, not unlike bell bottom jeans and disco.   

Speaking of Gen Z, here’s another tip: know your demographics. With heavy thoughts about trends on your mind, you might be thinking you need to go figure out what TikTok actually is. But once you do know (and you should), now you have to make the decision, “is this right for my brand?” Don’t worry about being everywhere; be where your potential customers are. You don't have to listen to “industry experts” that think you need to be in every trend. You need to be aware of the nature of the marketplace and how it affects you, but you don’t have to be actively spending in every corner of that marketplace.
